Inqilab Moncho has outright rejected the chargesheet filed in the murder case of Sharif Osman Bin Hadi, claiming it does not reflect the real truth behind the killing. While investigators blamed a ruling party ward commissioner for planning the attack, Inqilab Mancho leaders dismissed the explanation as “unbelievable” and “oversimplified.”
The charge sheet was submitted to Dhaka’s Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, according to DB Additional Commissioner Shafiqul Islam, who stated that Hadi was killed under the instruction and planning of an Awami League–affiliated ward commissioner.
Responding later that night, Inqilab Moncho Member-Secretary Abdullah Al Jaber said even a “mad person wouldn’t believe” that only a ward commissioner was behind such a high-profile killing. He alleged a larger network — including elements of state institutions — was involved, and vowed not to accept any charge sheet that excludes them.
Speaking after the “March for Justice” rally in Shahbagh, Jaber warned that their movement would continue until those he termed as the “real masterminds” are brought to justice. He further alleged that the government underestimated public intelligence and attempted to “fool the nation” through this investigation report.
The DB, meanwhile, said the killing was politically motivated and linked it to the leadership role Hadi was emerging into. Seventeen people were named in the charge sheet, with investigators accusing former ward councillor and Dhaka North Jubo League leader Taizul Islam Chowdhury Bappy of planning the assassination.
Inqilab Moncho leaders also hinted at tougher programmes ahead if justice is not ensured, warning of dire political consequences. Tuesday’s protest march travelled across ten major points in Dhaka before returning to Shahbagh, where leaders reiterated their four-point demand and urged citizens to stand with them in seeking justice.
Earlier, at a press conference held at the Media Center on Minto Road on Tuesday (6 January), DMP DB Chief Mohammad Shafiqul Islam said that a chargesheet has been submitted to the court accusing 17 people, including Faisal Karim Masud, in connection with the murder of Inqilab Moncho spokesperson Sharif Osman Bin Hadi.
He said the chargesheet was filed because the investigation proved the allegations against the accused. Of the 17 accused, 12 have been arrested while five are on the run.
Speaking about Hadi’s murder, he said it was carried out due to political vengeance.
Regarding the video message released by accused Faisal, Shafiqul Islam said, “He may release video statements if he wants, but evidence has been found proving his involvement.
