A 40-year-old British-Bangladeshi woman has died following a road accident on the M11 motorway near Harlow in London. The victim, Yasmin Begum, was a resident of Stepney Green in East London.
Yasmin had travelled to Turkey for a holiday with a friend and returned to Heathrow Airport late on the night of February 4. Her friend’s husband went to pick them up by car.
While they were on their way back home to Stepney Green, the vehicle overturned around 12:50 am on Wednesday. Police and emergency responders rushed to the scene, where Yasmin was pronounced dead.
The other two passengers — a married couple — sustained serious injuries and are currently receiving treatment at the Royal London Hospital.
Yasmin Begum worked as a teaching assistant at Brampton Primary School in the London Borough of Newham, where colleagues describe her as a dedicated staff member.
She is survived by her husband and two young children — a four-year-old daughter and a son aged around seven or eight. The family lived together in Stepney Green, where Yasmin was also born. Her husband’s family is originally from Sylhet Sadar, according to sources.
Her body is currently being kept at the mortuary of Harlow Hospital.
