Sylhet’s pride, Gaurab Singh and Abdul Zahir Tanvir, have written a remarkable new chapter in Bangladesh’s sporting history at the YONEX SUNRISE Bangladesh International Series 2025, held in Dhaka.

Representing Bangladesh, the pair became the first-ever players to claim a historic gold medal for the country in an international tournament—an achievement that has instantly placed their names among the finest in the game.

Former national doubles champions, Gaurab and Tanvir dominated the tournament from start to finish. Their momentum gathered pace after a confident straight-game win over Vietnam in the quarter-finals, setting the tone for the battles that followed in the semis and the final.

In a gripping, breath-holding finale, the two Sylheti stars held their nerve and emerged victorious—leaving the court with smiles that told the story of pride, resilience and a dream fulfilled.

Gaurab hails from Sylhet’s Shibganj Manipuri Para, while Tanvir comes from Bishwanath upazila—two local boys whose triumph has now become a national celebration.
